Portuguese companies have had an absolutely fantastic capacity for transformation and adaptation. We have an industry that is traditionally a polluting industry and we are taking giant steps to make it as sustainable as possible", explained to Lusa, in Madrid, Luís Figueiredo, from the Moda Portugal project, an initiative of associations in the sector that promotes Portuguese fashion. in the world.

In Madrid, on Tuesday night, an action by "kids Moda Portugal" took place, focused on children's clothing, with the motto 'together for the future' ('together for the future'), making known eight national brands that have environmental concerns related to the 'design' of the garments, the materials used in the production and the production processes.

The objective is to make production more sustainable, but also to ensure greater durability of the pieces, allowing, for example, to monitor the child's growth and/or reuse the clothing.

"That is what we are trying to show, that we are at the forefront. Portugal is at the forefront and we are internationally recognized for that", stated Luís Figueiredo.

The "kids Moda Portugal" event in Madrid focused on promoting these eight brands to the Spanish press specialized in sustainability and fashion, but also to the so-called "digital influencers".

This event in Spain was the first of an international tour of other European cities, according to the organizers.

The Moda Portugal project, launched in 2017, is an initiative of the Center for Textile Intelligence (CENIT) and the National Association of Industries and Clothing and Clothing (ANIVEC), co-financed by European funds from the Portugal 2020 program.
